Believed to possibly be the oldest organized builder group in the United States, the Indianapolis Home Builders first formed in 1922 and the organization’s first by-laws were drafted on February 22, 1940. The association changed its name to the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) in 1969 to reflect the organization’s growing reach.
Today, over 500 members strong, BAGI is committed to promoting the homebuilding industry in Central Indiana and its nine counties — Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan and Shelby County, respectively — while also educating both our members and consumers on the latest industry happenings. BAGI also works hard to provide productive networking opportunities, advocate for the betterment of our professionals when it comes to local, state and national legislation, and other resources to create a strong, thriving community for homebuilding professionals and homeowners.
While things have looked different and technology, policies and trends have evolved over the last century, BAGI has remain dedicated to serving our members the best way we know how — by adapting and continuing to evolve our efforts and services to meet our members needs.
