INDIANAPOLIS (July 22, 2025) — The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) reports a 6% YOY increase in single-family building permits across Central Indiana after June 2025, signaling continued momentum in the region’s residential construction market.
According to the latest permit data, 926 new home permits were issued in June 2025, up from 849 in June 2024. The year-over-year growth reflects steady buyer demand and the adaptability of local builders, many of whom are finding success with spec (move-in ready) inventory—even amid ongoing economic headwinds.
“June’s building permit activity highlights the ongoing strength and adaptability of Central Indiana’s housing market,” said Chris Hancock, CEO of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI). “Builders are navigating today’s market with intention—prioritizing smart growth, aligning with evolving buyer needs, and responding to larger economic trends. Central Indiana continues to attract homebuyers, and we anticipate consistent demand through the end of the year.”
As the industry enters the second half of 2025, builders remain focused on managing key factors like interest rate fluctuations, inflation, supply chain dynamics, and evolving local policies. Despite these complexities, the tone remains optimistic, with the region’s builders committed to delivering quality homes through strategic planning and long-term vision.
